Student Living: How to Live Well and Stay Fit

Staying Fit

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle isn’t always easy, and fitting it in around a busy schedule and on a student budget can be tricky but here are a few of our tips to make staying fit a reality.

Both Lancaster University Students Union and the University of Cumbria Students Union offer the opportunity to get involved in sporting activities.

Why not take advantage of the excellent sports facilities at Lancaster University Sports Centre.

Running

Running is a great low cost way to get fit. If this is something you enjoy then why not consider joining Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club or if you prefer running on your own then why not check out map my run for ideas and favourite routes around the Lancaster area.

Tennis

If you enjoy tennis then why not check out Lancaster Tennis Club . The club has three astro turf courts based on Lune Road about 1/2 mile from Lancaster railway station and is part of Lancaster Sports and Social Club, with access to the main Clubhouse facilities and bar as well as their own small clubhouse.

Cycling

If you fancy yourself as the next Sir Chris Hoy or Victoria Pendleton then why not check out Lancaster Cycling Club

Golf

There is no more relaxing way to wind down than a game of golf, although I guess that depends how competitive you are! If you enjoy golf then Forest Hills golf course is the place to go, set in stunning countryside and only a short distance from Lancaster University this pay and play course is ideal.

Eat Well

Eat well and feel healthy

Boost your energy and concentration levels in time for exams.

Did you know that what you eat can have an impact on your academic performance? Poor eating habits can affect your memory and make it harder to concentrate, and have been linked to lower grades. On the other hand, if you eat well, you’ll have more energy, better concentration levels and be less likely to get ill.

We will be adding some of our favourite recipes to this section shortly so keep you eyes peeled!

StudentHQ have some great properties, some of the best I have seen in Lancaster. We rented 85 Balmoral Road last year and wouldn‘t hesitate in recommending StudentHQ to our friends

Big thanks StudentHQ for a great year! Our property was newly renovated so was like living in a new house. Asked for some extra shelves to be fitted in my room which kindly John agreed to do
